Been awhile since my last update. I was away most of last month working on a new episode for NCIS:LA titled, 'KILLHOUSE' written by Dave Kalstein. Had a great time creating the fight sets for most of this episode. Keeping it semi- realistic, but of course factoring in the dynamics and the drama required to tell the story for the TV screen. It's also one of the most action packed episodes as well, directed by Larry Teng.
After that I was on the set of the latest Liam Neeson suspense thriller, 'NON-STOP' also starring Julianne Moore. My technical advisor hat was on for this one. Mostly for weapons related sequences that were pre- designed.
It's been a whirlwind few months and am looking forward to what the new year entails.
The episode of NCIS:LA will be shown in mid February, so stay tuned for announcements!

LOST KINGDOM
Been busy on several fronts this month. Updating you on images I have been posting up on my twitter feed.
(@RafaelKayanan) So if you've been following me on there you've seen these test designs for all over tee shirts
popping up lately.
I'll delve more into 'Lost Kingdom Apparel' and a little bit about the thinking behind each shirt when we get things up and running. I'm excited to see my work presented in a format without any creative restrictions. It doesn't aspire to be like any other line of clothing, other than
a brand new way of expression for myself.

RAMPANT FOUR
There's many ways to interpret a line drawing with color in CS5. So I've put this image thru many different test runs.
In this version I was experimenting with dropping out the white color entirely, then using the remaining art as a color selection.
By creating several layers of various colors I would erase portions of one layer to reveal the colors beneath with a custom brush.
The image starts to unfold and becomes a way to organically rediscover a fresh version.

NCIS:LA KNIFE FIGHT!!!
Just a heads up - I got a chance to work on a quick knife fight last month for the CBS show NCIS:LA.
TV, especially network tv, well this kind of thing is few and far between.
The actress is Daniela Ruah , she executed a very physical knife fight scene extremely well.
She plays the character Kensi Blye.
Her awesome stunt double Tammie Baird is standing on the left, but Daniela shot the whole fight herself and is clearly visible through out.
The stunt team Brand X worked on HAYWIRE and BOURNE ULTIMATUM films -
we had a great time working together on this.
You guys can check out episode 317 on the 28th of February, Tuesday night on CBS.
Special thanks go out to series Writer / Co -Producer Dave Kalstein for inviting us.

TRIBAL FLAG DESIGN
Did this in Illustrator CS5.
Utilized indigenous sword details and shield into the recognizable forms of the sun and stars.
