Rafael, Absolutely LOVE that old Bob Kane look the best of all the various Bat-Man interpretations over the years. This was a time when, if you messed with The Bat-Man you could very well end up dead. The huge ears seem to be from Detective #30-31. Superb!
Yes, the ears are from that era. It would be great to see that DEtective run reprinted in a large format book or even as a digital download so more readers can see how Batman was such a great design.
How about approaching DC with the idea of retelling that first year of Batman from Det. #27-40 in this art style? Bob Kane spent a week with me and my family back in 1978 and I've been a huge first year Batman fan ever since. I think it would be a great project. If you want, I can send you some of those old images from the early Detectives. I have most of those early issues scanned. Let me know. Great work!
Thanks- but I have them in the reprints. Would rather do new stories in this costume with similar villains etc. A kind of continuation / homage of the run. Perhaps in the future! :)
Illustrator and concept designer for comic books (Spider-Man, Conan, Drizzt), films (John Carter of Mars), stage, video games (Turok), sketch cards (Star Wars, LOTR) and tv. Choreographed numerous live events, tv and film projects (Hunted, Non-Stop) focusing on martial arts and edged weapons. Recent work are interior art for Marvel Comics, concept art for The Immortals, Snow White, Broadway show set graphics for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and Fight Design for NCIS:LA
